FORWARD
This book in no way is a complete accounting of the complete lineage of Abbie or
the events in her life. She has however traced her ancestors as for back as she could with
accuracy (documented). The two that are the most complete and longest lines are the
O'Doherty's of Ireland, and the Owens of England. The Cahir Rua of Ireland was born in
1588 and Sir John Owens of England was born before 1600.
Mother has been dedicated with her pursuit of the real ancestors in her past.
Presented on the following pages are summaries of the vast amount of information she
has, i.e. documents of war records, wills, census records and interviews with older family
members.
The book is not written in story form. It is a collection of historical data and
research by mother and daddy, and by others. It includes stories written by mother about
events in her life and memories of her children. After reading this collection, the tapestry
woven over the many years does tell a story. It shows to me where some of the 20th
century family members' characteristics of the individuals could have origin. One note of
interest to me, is that in looking over the lines, there are no apparent divorces. Many
spouse's deaths and remarriages.
In the True Family Stories Section, mother has shared with us some of the fun
parts of her life and gives us a taste about her life growing up.
Mother has given us a true legacy, tracing the ancestors on her side of the family.
I am grateful for her diligence in making possible the knowledge of our roots.
I look forward with anticipation to daddy writing his research on his lines.
