Ida Reynolds, daughter of Jesse and Jane Owen, told her granddaughter, Elsie
Dean Reynolds Griffin, of Goldsboro, N.C. , that her daddy was named Richardson, after
his mother. Jesse Richardson Harris. The Richardson family migrated to the United
States in large numbers beginning in the 16th and 17th century. Many of the Richardson's
settled in Guilford County, North Carolina.

MASON
Jesse Richardson Harris petitioned Hiram Masonic Lodge 98 on Friday 15 March 1861 for
membership. He was elected on 19 April 1861. He passed fellow crafts 20 July 1861.
Jesse became a High Master Mason on the 20th of September 1861.
In 1887, due to the distance he had to travel, he transferred his membership from
Clinton Hiram Lodge 98 to Salemburg Coharie Lodge 379.
He was regular in attendance and remained a member of the Salemburg lodge in
good standing until his death, ilgpv
