Nancy Daugharty Fouraker's Lineage
The O'Dochartaigh World Headquarters of Inch Island, County Donegal, Republic
of Ireland, sent the lineage before John Daugharty, Sr. to Abbie Harris Beck. It was very
long and traced John Daugharty to Ireland to the Cahir ODoherty. * During her
documentation for the DAR, it was misplaced. The ODochartaigh Clan sent her the
number of our ODochartaigh line. (1141). It is the reference number to trace the work
completed by members of the World Headquarters. Their address is:

John Daugharty, Sr., was a Veteran of the war with the Cherokee Indians in
South Carolina, serving under Colonel Richard Richardson, from Old Camden
district of Craven county, South Carolina, around 1759-60 as records indicates he served
as a private . He was also a private in the South Carolina Militia .
John was believed to have immigrated from Ireland about 1750 landing around Savannah
or Charleston. Several land grants have been found issuing land to John Daugharty in the
Camden County, South Carolina area. One for 100 acres April 3, 1764, and another 100
acres March 19, 1775. Revolutionary War records have been found dated September 27,
1779 relating to him. His will was probated in February 1795 in the Camden district of
South Carolina. John's wife's name was Judith.
John Daugharty and Judith had the following children, John, Jr., Dennis, Samuel,
Margaret and Mary
John Daugharty, Jr born 1750-1819, married Lettis Cooks, Their children were:
Demsey and others not known. John was a Revolutionary War Soldier as certified by
Capt. James Gore on April 24, 1781. On January 21, 1785, he received a 100 acre grant
in Camden District of South Carolina on Welche's Fork near Sandy River. He and his wife
moved to Bullick County Georgia about 1795. Records show a land grant of 200 acres
November 8, 1799 bounded on northwesterly the 15 Mile Creek above the Indian Ford.
Another 200 acres was granted in 1800 adjoining this tract.
