ICHABOD FOURAKER
1823-1883
Ichabod Fouraker was the son of Nancy Fouraker, from England. He was born in
1823 in Camden County, Georgia.
Ichabod married Nancy Daugharty in March 1825 at the home of her father James
Daugharty in Columbia County, Florida. They were married by a Justice of the Peace ,
named William Williams. They first lived in Camden County, Georgia. They then moved
to Nassau County, Florida, Volusia County and finally to Clinch County, Georgia. There
they raised 11 of the 15 children bom to them. The children are listed under Nancy
Daugharty Fouraker.
Ichabod enrolled in the Seminole Indian War in 1838 at the age of 15. He served
under Captain J.L. Thigpen in the Jernigan regiment. Also, with Captain D.N. Cone and
Warren's Battalion of the Florida Mounted Militia. He was mustered out at Trader's Hill,
Georgia in 1839. Ichabod was listed as a private and a musician. Ichabod enlisted in the
Confederate Army 25 March 1864. He was a private in Captain Barnwell's Georgia Light
Artillery. He served as a hospital Nurse.
Ichabod Foreacre was elected to the executive committee for the Democratic Party
of Clinch County on July 17, 1880.

At the time of Ichabod's death December 2, 1883, he owned approximately 1200
acres of land near Fargo, Georgia in Clinch County. He is buried at Bethel Primitive
Church Cemetery near Fargo. This cemetery is also known as Bony Bluff Cemetery. The
Fouraker reunion is held every First Sunday of May at the Bethel Primitive Church in
memory of Ichabod and Nancy Fouraker.
Abbie Harris Beck's mother, Margaret is the 11th child of Ichabod and Nancy
Daugharty Fouraker
