Five generations of Becks farmed the same land.
George Lamar Beck, Jr helped his granddaddy on the farm but never farmed.
The children of Lamar and Abbie have established families of their own.
Laura Anne while completing her degree at Auburn University, married Isaac N. Lambert
of Little River, Monroe County, Alabama. They have two children: Margaret Elizabeth,
Beth, born May 11, 1961. Daniel Nyles, Danny , bom August 27, 1965. "Ike" was a 707
pilot and an engineer for Pan American World Airways. His aircraft crashed on take off
from Tahiti on July 23, 1973. Ike did not survive the crash. Laura Anne began a teaching
career for the University of South Alabama in the late 70's. She earned a MA degree in
1979. She purchased a home in Geneva on the comer of Campbell and Commerce Street
and moved her family there. About this time she began the construction of a home on the
Geneva-Enterprise highway. The site is about 1/4 mile SW of the home of her mother and
father.
Laura Anne married Jim T. Parker in August 1984. Jim is from near Enterprise,
he is a pilot-instructor at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. They divorced 2 years later.
George Lamar while completing his degree at Auburn University, met and married
Gene Culver, August 22, 1962. After Completing his studies at Auburn, George and
Gene moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama so that George could enter the University of
Alabama. George completed his LLB degree at the University in the early sixties and he
and Gene moved to Cullman, Alabama. George began the practice of Law.
On the fourth of July 1967, George and Gene's first child was born. She was
named Beverly Terese. Two years later, on June 10, 1969, their second child, Angela
Chelese was born.
When Bill Baxley was elected attorney General for the State of Alabama, he asked
George to be his Deputy. George and his family then moved to Montgomery where he
served as the Deputy Attorney General for the State of Alabama for Eight years.
Moving from the Attorney Generals office, George and Bill formed a law
partnership and practiced both in Montgomery and Birmingham. Four years later Bill was
elected Lt. Governor for the State of Alabama. George managed both offices for three
years. He dissolved the partnership with Bill and continued to practice law in
Montgomery.
George and Gene were divorced in 1992. He married Carlotta Bryant Ellis on
March 17, 1993. Carlotta has one daughter, Leigh Anne Ellis married to Brett Harris in
1997. They make their home in Sylacauga, Alabama,
Warren Harris, named for his uncle and his mother's maiden name. Attended Troy
State University and the University of Hawaii, receiving his degree from Troy State
University.
Warren began a career of teaching in the Walton County School System. His first
year to teach was in Paxton, Florida. He went from that system to the Freeport, Florida
System. While serving in this system he was promoted to the position of Assistant
Principal.
On June 20, 1970, Warren was married to Nanette Galloway of Geneva. Nan was
also a teacher, Candace Nicole, their first child was born April 11, 1973. On June 14,
1978, their second child, Natalie Paige was bom.
