INVITATIONS OF THE GOSPEL.
              6 Lo, th’ incarnate God ascended,
                  Pleads the merit of his blood ;
                Venture on him, venture wholly,
                  Let no other trust intrude ;
                    None but Jesus
                  Can do helpless sinners good.
              7 Saints and angels, joined in concert,
                  Sing the praises of the Lamb,
                While the blissful seats of heaven
                  Sweetly echo with his name,
                    Hallelujah
                  Sinners here may sing the same.

              122          L. M. Double.
                        Law and grace contrasted.
              1  T N thunder once, Jehovah spoke,
                1 From Sinai’s mount in fire and smoke,
                But now from Zion's fair abode,
                He shows himself a pard’ning God;
                Hark, how he speaks in accents mild,
                Speaks to the sinner as a child ;
                ‘ Pardon and peace I freely give ;
                Poor sinner, look to me and live.’
              2 The holy Moses quaked with fear,
                And camp-despair and death were there;
                But here the God of gospel grace
                Invites us now to see his face ;
                Vengeance no more beclouds his brow,
                He speaks in love to sinners now ;
                It is the voice of Jesus’ blood,
                Calling poor wanderers home to God
              3 The thundering law with terrors full.
                Pronounced a curse on every soul;
