P. 24
ON FREE GRACE.
4 The door of thy mercy stands open all day
To the poor and the needy, who knock by
the way;
No sinner shall ever be empty sent back,
Who comes seeking mercy for Jesus’s sake.
5 Thy mercy in Jesus exempts me from hell,
Its glories I’ll sing, and it’s wonders I’ll tell,
’Twas Jesus, my friend, when he hung on
the tree,
Who opened the channel of mercy for me.
6 Great Father of mercies, thy goodness I own,
And the covenant love of thy crucified Son;
All praise to the Spirit whose whisper divine,
Seals mercy, and pardon, and righteousness
mine.
3 C. M.
Salvation by Grace Alone.
1 A MAZING grace! how sweet the sound
/A That saved a wretch like me !
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
2 ’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved:
How precious did that grace appear,
The)hour I first believed!
3 Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come:
’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home.
4 The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
